Roy Hennessy Memorial Scholarship

Roy Hennessy was a fixture in Vancouver area radio for twenty years, followed by a distinguished broadcast career in Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg and Toronto. Roy passed away in June 2022, but he’s fondly remembered by industry friends and listeners across the country.
Roy was only in Edmonton for two years (CHED 1982-1984), but he made a distinct impression just like he did in the other markets he worked in, including CKLG Vancouver (1964-1979), CFOX Vancouver (1979-1982), CKY/CITI Winnipeg (1984-1987), CFRB Toronto (1991-1996), CHHR Vancouver (2008-2010). Roy was also a former member of the BBM Radio Executive, past President of The Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent On Record (FACTOR), and a former member of Board of Directors, Western Association of Broadcasters (WAB).
Available to second-year students enrolled in the Radio and Television – Radio program. Awarded on the basis of excellent academic achievement in the first year of the program.
Students will be automatically considered for this award. No application is required.
