R.J. Bailot Bursary for Volunteerism in Animal Health Technology

R.J. Bailot is one of the founders of the Canadian Animal Task Force (formerly the Alberta Spay Neuter Task Force) and is currently the Executive Director of this non-profit. From an early age, R.J. was passionate about animal welfare and the people who live with and love their animals. His heroic work during the southern Alberta floods and the Fort McMurray wildfires saved the lives of countless animals. R.J. mentors many local and national animal welfare organizations; makes many presentations regarding the humane
management of dog and cat populations on First Nations; is a compassionate and understanding expert on hoarding situations and the many complex issues hoarders face; and is very experienced with feral cats and managing this population. This award is endowed by Carla Cumming Sojonky and the late Frank Sojonky in honor of the enormous impact R.J. Bailot has made on the lives of countless people and animals.

Criteria for Bursary Selection: Available to second year students enrolled in the Animal Health Technology program at NAIT. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need and satisfactory academic achievement in the first year of the program. Preference will be given to a student who has volunteered with a reputable animal welfare organization. Student must be an Alberta resident and a Canadian Citizen to receive this award.
