Dr. Dave Brace Award for Volunteerism in Animal Welfare

A founding partner of the Bow River Veterinary Centre in Canmore, Alberta, Dr. Dave Brace became a local legend renowned for not only his exceptional skills and knowledge, but his remarkable kindness and compassion for both animals and their human companions. Dr. Dave is a founding board member of the Carla Cumming Sojonky Adoption Centre, Home of the Bow Valley SPCA, and volunteered many hours caring for rescued animals in Canada and the USA, most notably after Hurricane Katrina. This award is endowed by Carla Cumming Sojonky and the late Frank Sojonky in honor of the enormous impact Dr. Dave had on them, and their family of rescued German Shorthaired Pointers, in the Canmore community.

Available to second year students enrolled in the Animal Health Technology program at NAIT. Awarded on the basis of satisfactory academic achievement in the first year of the program and demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to a student who has volunteered with a reputable animal welfare organization.

Students must submit an application to be considered for this award.
