Trevor Hepburn Scholarship II

Trevor Hepburn Edwards (1944 – 1994) was a Canadian Architect, registered in the province of Alberta. Never one to find the easiest way, Trevor came to his vocation and career over a considerable length of time. He knew in high school that he wanted to be an Architect, but quickly learned that high school grades and personality would only take him so far. This occasioned a rethinking of his goals and aspirations, and, following a series of false short-cuts, he ultimately achieved his Architectural Technology Diploma at NAIT, and then pursued a University degree and accreditation, and became an influential Architect within the public sector. Trevor believed fervently in the importance of lifelong learning, and intended to create scholarships that encourage mature, working adults to return to full-time education at the post-secondary level, in diploma or degree programs, that may lead to successful careers. This scholarship is intended to fulfill Trevor’s stipulations by finding and rewarding these specific students.

This scholarship is available to any first year student at NAIT in a full-time diploma, degree, or applied degree program. It will be awarded on the basis of a minimum GPA of 2.0 and a one-page essay submission. The essay should provide a brief summary of the applicant’s work history to date, and clearly articulate the applicant’s ambition and passion to pursue a higher education to achieve career goals and successes in life, demonstrating the characteristics that Trevor wished to encourage. Previous recipients are not eligible to reapply. Applicants with a documented disability must be enrolled in a minimum of six credits. Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent resident. Preference will be given to a student who is returning to school after having been in the workforce for five or more years. Students must complete the application to be considered for this award.
