Clarke Gould Occupational Health and Safety Memorial Award
Clarke was born June 17, 1959 and was the eldest of 4 boys to Betty and Arthur Gould. Clarke was a loving father to three children. Clarke was passionate, funny, patient and kind. You could always count on Clarke, to tell a joke or one of his quick one-liners. However, when you remember Clarke the first thing that comes to your mind is his big heart! He cared so much about everyone around him and he would always lend a shoulder to cry on. His passion for helping others began at a young age where he became a life guard at the age of 16. Clarke became a leader within Scouts, an organization that offers youths an opportunity to experience new things, have more adventures and develop into confident and capable individuals better prepared for success in the world. This was who Clarke was, always giving to others.
Clarke graduated from the U of A with a degree in Economics with a minor in Gerontology, as he wanted to help the aging. Clarke worked for Atco Gas in their training department and moved from there to the family owned business, Gould Safety. He continued to work for Gould Safety as a trainer and health and safety professional for 30 years in all facets of safety and wrote programs and trained specifically for the Electrical contractors.
For approximately 20 years, Clarke was a member of the Alberta Construction Safety Association, Edmonton Regional Safety Committee. Clarke was a valued member of our committee, where he led many of our initiatives. Such as: NAOSH Week and the Provincial Skills Competition. Our committee benefited from Clarke’s enthusiasm and knowledge at every meeting.
Rest in Peace, our Friend, our colleague.
