Carl Lamoureux Apprenticeship Bursary

Carl Lamoureux, a man of an infectious laugh and many smiles, was born on December 8, 1986. As a young boy he went outside and, well, he pretty much never came back indoors. If he wasn’t found high in a tree he was likely kayaking, hiking, fishing or, after he got old enough, hunting. Raised on the very ground that was originally settled by his ancestors over a century ago in 1872, Carl was a man of the land—always having a strong connection to the soil under his feet. A life-long learner, Carl was a red seal carpenter, a tower crane technician and was working to get his millwright ticket. A respected figure on jobsites, he was always generous with his advice, which, thanks to his countless hours in workshops and the books, he had in spades. Carl was a giving man who would quietly help people out, asking for nothing in return. This bursary, aiding students in need to complete their learning, is an extension of that nature. While he was taken away from us far too early, Carl’s memory lives on with us and hopefully through those selected for this award.

Available to students enrolled in any period of any Apprenticeship program. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need and satisfactory academic achievement. One award to be disbursed in the Fall and one in the Winter term.

Students must submit an application to be considered for this award.
