Bruce and Lorraine Cumming Memorial Bursary in Animal Health Technology
W. Bruce Cumming (1930-1993) was born and grew up on a small dairy farm in the Ottawa Valley. In 1952, his family moved to Edmonton, where he later met Lorraine Hargreaves (1931-2009). They married in 1957 and raised a family of five children in the Garneau community. Their compassion and generosity were reflected in numerous years of community and school volunteerism, as well as in the many and varied family pets over the years: cats, dogs, gerbils, turtles, guinea pigs, and even (once) a rooster! Their example of frugality, honesty, hard work, and generosity live on in the legacy they left: their children and grandchildren. This award is endowed in their honor by their daughter, Carla Cumming Sojonky, and the late Frank Sojonky.
